  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Quarter the apples and remove the core. Cut the quarters into 1/4 inch thick slices and place them in a bowl.
  • In a small bowl mix together maple syrup, almond extract, lemon juice and cinnamon.
  • Drizzle the maple syrup mixture over the apples and carefully mix it altogether. Transfer the apples into a 2 1/2 Qt ceramic casserole dish*. (See Note 1)
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Remove apples from the oven, liberally sprinkle with date sugar and broil for 5 minutes.
  • Let the apples cool for 10 minutes and then serve in individual bowls or ramekins with a dollop of ice-cream if desired.


Casserole Dish
Since it's a fat-free recipe, it's best to use ceramic casserole dish since the apples won't stick and there's no need to grease the dish prior to baking.
