Announcing your pregnancy to your significant other can be a fun and exciting experience for both parents involved. However, some ideas sound fantastic in theory but not so great in reality.
Announcing a pregnancy grandly and sharing it on social media has become a sort of trend these days. From themed photo shoots to special video moments of reactions, there is no shortage of baby reveal content out there.
However, one California woman’s idea of a sweet surprise to share the news with her husband took a bit of an unexpected turn.
According to a source, she garnished his ice cream sundae using her positive pregnancy test as a way to surprise him with the news. This video clip of the event has over 7 million views.
In the video, she makes her husband eat a sundae with various interesting add-ons, such as chocolate sauce, strawberries, and wafers. However, things start to take a turn when she hides the positive pregnancy test in the toppings.
Despite commenting that the sundae looked terrible, he supportively dives in. In the video, the woman mentions: “It’s extra sweet, and they put a nice little new extra surprise in there for you.”
He reached in and licked the ice cream off the pregnancy test, asking if it was a wafer.
Not long after, he finally realizes what he had been licking. Viewers criticized her for making him eat something she had peed on and not even stopping him once he had started.
One commenter on the video suggested: “You could have at least put it in a baggie.”
I agree, while there are many fun ways to celebrate this wonderful moment, even putting it in a bag would have been better than this. She could have also done it with a clean pregnancy test and used his finding it as a way to reveal the surprise.
One commenter shared: “There's absolutely nothing kitschy about this. Truth is, it's disgusting!”
Others agreed, stating: “LMAO! Seriously...there are many people out there who seriously have a screw loose.”
Another shared their thoughts stating: “Congratulations, but why in his food?!”
While we can all agree that him eating the ice cream “wafer” was disgusting to watch, it does bring about the question of why in the first place. Why make him do that when there were so many other options?
It also brings about the question of what she would have done had he not gone for the wafers first. Her “pee stick” was sitting in the ice cream, making everything around it tainted with urine.
While we’re all for fun ways to announce your pregnancy and a fun reaction from your significant others, there are ways to show a positive pregnancy test that don’t involve having the other person lick it first.
