Lately, my almost 3 months old baby’s sleep has been unpredictable. It’s been sporadic, but relatively not bad. She will take a couple of short naps in the morning, followed by one long (4-5 hours) nap in the afternoon. I’m not complaining, I can work with that.
But that long nap comes with a little bit of a worry for this mama.
I swaddle her and she’s at the age when she will start to roll over pretty soon. Knowing this, I absolutely have to go and check on her every now and then.

But here comes a fun part. My 3 year daughter Melania is a sly fox. Every time I go up to check on the baby, she would follow me right away despite my disapproval. If you have a toddler, you know that they are anything but quite and it doesn’t take too long before my baby’s up because Melania wanted to check on her too. Little does she know that baby’s sleep is priceless and that it took me a decent amount of time to put a little one to sleep. This mama was stressing a lot. As you can imagine, this is a good reason why I’m not a fan of going into the baby’s room to check on her.
There’s one more side of the story. It’s surprisingly how many distractions you start to notice once you have a baby, don’t you:)?
The door in our baby’s room has one of those handles, that makes a creaky sound once you open it or close. Granted, up until the baby was born, I’ve never considered this a problem. But now, it’s a big of an issue. Every time I would go to check on the baby, I have a risk of waking her up.
With all this hassle, I knew the timing couldn’t been better to introduce a video monitor and get some peace of mind into my life.
Before I got VTech Safe&Sound VM343 Pan & Tilt Full-color Video Monitor, I didn’t realise it was so versatile. But after I started using it, I wondered why didn’t I get it sooner.
The monitor has a tilt camera meaning that I can keep a close eye on the baby from different angles zooming in if necessary. When me and my husband stay up late, which happens quite often during starry summer nights, we can still monitor our daughter’s sleep thanks to a night vision camera.
Recently we had a family vacation and we rented a large 2 story house. Needless to say, it would have been extremely inconvenient to run back and forth to check on my little one’s sleep. The monitor has been a lifesaver for us, because I could sit on the porch or spend time with my family on the first floor while my baby was sleeping upstairs and I could still monitor her from any room.
VTech Pan & Tilt Digital Video Monitor has another cool function, which I haven’t used yet, but definitely planning to when my daughter is a little older. It features a two-way intercom allowing parents to soothe their child without going in to their room. It comes especially handy when I’m busy with my older daughter and can’t tend to the little one right away.
You can find VTech Pan & Tilt Digital Video Monitor at a variety of retailers: Walmart, Target, Babies r Us or Amazon. If you’re curious about other Vtech Baby Monitors, check their page to find the best product to suit your family’s needs.
