We’ve all come across those dishes that we wouldn’t eat no matter how much it costs. Whether it’s a vegetable you’ve hated since you were a kid or a food you just couldn’t stomach, we’ve all been there. A user on a popular internet forum asked: “What is a food that you are not willing to try?” which sparked a lively debate.
Here are the top responses.
Brains

One foodie shared: “Brains, from any animal. No prions for me, thank you!” While some users had mentioned that they’d tried dishes such as goat brain soup before, most were in agreement that this was something they would never be willing to try.
Balut
One foodie commented: “Balut
A fertilized egg with a mostly developed embryo that you still cook and eat like a hard boiled egg.
Nope, nope, NOPE”
While some people didn’t know it’s formal name, many agreed that the visual aspect of this alone was enough to make people avoid it altogether.
One foodie agreed sharing: “Came to say this too but didn’t know it’s proper name. The image from tv of someone peeling the egg to find a partially formed animal then eating it is burned into my brain. Brother in law tried it when in the Philippines and said never again. I’m a big nope ever.”
Casu Martzu
One foodie shared: “Casu Martzu. Basically, cheese that contains live maggots.” Another foodie agreed commenting: “Yeah the thought of them burrowing into my intestines is enough for me to pass.” While the health logistics were one reason not to try, most wouldn’t try it for the premise alone.
Whale
Most countries don’t have access to this as a dish, but it is still at the top of some people’s list. One adventurous foodie shared: “I live in a country where whale is consumed.
I won't eat it, I'm pretty convinced that cetaceans are both sapient and sentient, they appear to have culture and and certainly have language.
I just don't think it's the correct thing to do. Also their flesh tends to have quite a lot of mercury, and I've been told it has next to no flavour, so what's the point?”
Rocky Mountain Oysters
One foodie shared: “I tried. Wasn’t too bad until i bit into a tendon or something hard. Won’t try again lol.” Another agreed sharing: “Had it. Nothing to write home about. Not really gross, just way too chewy, and kinda bland.” While most weren’t offput by the dish itself, it was the texture and taste that made most people pass.
Fried Spiders
Many foodies were adamant that this was by far the worst one of the list. However, one foodie shared: “I had them in Cambodia along with some crickets. They make a great beer snack when covered in salt and chilli. Very good when made fresh.” So while some were divided, the idea of eating a spider alone was enough to make people not want to eat it.
Guavas
One user shared: "I don’t care how tasty they are i am not going to eat something that smells so bad it makes me so nauseous i have to lie down in a whole other room just to not throw up"
