It’s been awhile since we’ve been on a vacation, but a few weeks ago we went on a fun family getaway to Lake George, NY.
We first traveled there 7 years ago and we absolutely loved it. Gorgeous 32 miles long lake surrounded by the Adirondack mountains.
Mountains and lakes are pretty much my favorite things and Lake George resort has it all.
Since the resort is just 3.5 hours drive from Connecticut, we knew we had to show this beautiful place to our kids.
And although the weather and water were rather on a colder side (hence some of my pictures are a little moody), we still enjoyed swimming in a crystal clear water of the lake and sitting around the fire in the evening.
It was a peaceful laid-back vacation, exactly what we were looking for.
Here I share with you some of the best moments from out trip.
We arrived to Lake George in the late afternoon and the weather was just amazing. Kids couldn’t wait to go swimming and you can see how clean the water was.
This is my favorite thing about Lake George. Despite that it’s really deep, up to 250 ft in some places, the water is always crystal clear.
One of the great things about our stay there was the beautiful log house the we rented a few months in advance. It had a private beach access, patio with a lake view and kids really enjoyed the playground that no one used except them.
It’s very easy to get used to this view.
Here’s something new we discovered on the trip. It’s called chiminea and is like a portable outdoor fireplace. There was something special about sitting in the woods by the chiminea when it’s dark outside and all you could hear was tiny waves splashing against the shore. So relaxing.
The next morning was a bit chilly so we packed our snack bags and headed to the historic Fort William Henry where we had almost a private tour of the fort, and my oldest even got a chance to try on a British military uniform of the 17th century.
Despite that some days were cloudy at times, I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to snap some pictures. It was too beautiful and serene.
The town of Lake George is abundant in antique stores.
There was one particular place that caught my attention because it was like a castle and I was very surprised that it wasn’t a residential building. But to my disappointment, as soon as wee pulled over to check on some antique goods, the store got closed.
