How do you prepare your skin for spring? I have some tips: proper hydration + healthy nutrition + my easy DIY coconut oil body scrub. With these simple tricks, you’ll be ready for sun in no time.
I don’t know how about you, but I’m so ready for spring. The snow is melting slowly and I’m sure we’re still going to see the ups and downs in the temperature. As much as I love my knee-high boots and skinny jeans, I can’t wait to ditch them in a favor of flats or flip-flops and get my fluffy dresses out of the closet.
The thing is, cold and dry winter air took a toll on my skin. During winter months it needs a special attention. This is the only time of the year, when extra moisturization is a must.
Today, I want to share with you one of the easiest recipe to get your skin nice and smooth and ready for spring. My Coconut Oil Body Scrub can be made in no time and does wonders.
Coffee, that is a part of a scrub is a greatest available exfoiliator, which helps you get rid of dead skin cells, toxins and is good in fighting cellulite, thus promoting promoting overall skin health.
Coconut oil is my natural moisturizer. It’s loaded with antibacterial and healing properties, making your skin look soft and smooth. Plus, it smells unbelievably.
Make sure you’re not using the scrub on irritated or wounded skin and use it not more than 1-2 per week.
Here’s what you need to make my Coconut Oil Body Scrub:
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1/4 cup of ground coffee.
You can use already brewed, ground coffee as well as freshly ground coffee.
Initially, I wanted to make it in a ice-cube tray, but the ones we have at home are too deep. So, I found another great solution – mini muffin paper tins. They make a perfect portion size of the scrub. Mix the ground coffee with the coconut oil, pack the mixture tightly into mini muffin tins or ice cube trays if you like and pop them in a freezer for about 20-30 minutes until the scrub is hard enough.
How easy is that? Once the scrub has hardened, remove it from the molds and store in a Ziploc in a freezer.
After a single use of this wonderful natural body scrub, my skin felt and smelled awesome. There was no need to apply moisturizer after the shower.
Are you convinced yet? I hope so. Go ahead and print out this recipe and use this Coconut Oil Coffee Scrub whenever you feel like your skin needs some extra softness. And if you want to organize yourself some SPA time at home, try my Homemade Bath Bombs recipe. Two words – fizzy and flavorful.
