I'm excited to introduce you to my guest blogger Kami. She will gladly share with us 5 Traditions To Start With Your Kids.
In the busy world we all live in these days it’s hard to carve out time for quality family moments. There’s work, housework, errands, kids activities, sports, the list is endless. I am sometimes so exhausted to do anything extra for myself. However, with everything my husband and I have going on we always try to make time for our kids. Aside from work (which kind of pays the bills) we schedule our family times and make it sort of little traditions that the kids can come to expect and look forward too. Here are 5 Traditions To Start With Your Kids.
Family Movie/Game Night
Start with a family movies night or game night. This is usually our Friday nights, if there’s a new movie the kids want to watch we cuddle in front of the TV with blankets and pillows. We each have our favorite flavor of popcorn and drinks while we enjoy a good movie and laugh out loud 🙂 If there isn’t a good movie that fancies us then we get our board games out. My son and husband loves chess and my daughter and I go for the checkers. We also play Domino’s, chutes & ladder, and card games as well. This results in some funny conversations during too.
Sunday Morning Breakfast
My husband is in charge of this one, every Sunday morning he takes our order as if we are in a restaurant. We usually end up having brunch because it’s the only day we get to sleep in as well but it’s all worth the wait. Most days we don’t get to eat together as a family but Sunday mornings are our thing. Whether you get to eat together every day or just once a week, try to add it to your calendar and plan around it.
First Day Of School Pictures
This one is a milestone tradition in our home, first day of school is so exciting and as a mother that’s great news… sometimes the kids get nervous about school especially the younger ones. Getting excited and taking pics before they head off to school on that first day gets their minds off of their anxieties. Also years later, you have a keepsake to watch how much and how far they have come. As parent you realize that the years just slip by.
When you have 3 kids like we do, work, business to run, etc. Finding quality time with each individual child is hard. Yes, there are family times and moments through out the day you ask each of your child quick questions like “how was school?” or “how was your day?” but sometimes a special day out with each child is a more enjoyable way to really connect with that child.Try to schedule a parent/child date day with each child once a month. If you have 3 kids that’s 4 times a year you get to really connect and talk about so much more. If you can do it more often then by all means go for it. We make time for what’s important.
Daily Prayer/ Gratitude
Get in the habit of teaching your children and family about giving thanks, being grateful for everyday and what it has offered you. If you are a family that prays, then pray together. Your child is never too young to understand gratitude. They will grow up to appreciate the little things and not just material things. My kids say a prayer every night before bed, they give thanks for what they have and they pray for the people in their lives. What better way to end the day.

I want to start a mama daughter date w/ my 3 year old. I know she misses having all my attention now that she has a little sister.

I need to add prayer to our lives. I have been slacking so much. We are regular attenders of church but I just can't seem to get it going at home.

Great traditions. We do many of these in our home. I love the date night for the kids! My husband takes the girls out, separately. So cute!
